The autumnal equinox has come and gone and monsoon left as quickly as it came. As the days grow noticeably shorter, I struggle to wake up in the morning because it’s still just a little bit dark outside.Â
I’m not a winter person. People laugh at my choice of the word “winter” here in Arizona. What they don’t understand is that Bisbee is a mile high and where we live caps out at about 4400 feet. It gets really fucking cold here. The mesquite trees are deciduous–dropping their leaves leaving nothing but spindly crooked branches for the months to come. The wild grass is turning from green to gold.Â
Goodbye Summer. I had a great time–especially with all the fantastic sunsets you produced. Looking forward to seeing you again next year. The next few months are going to be scary to say the least. With the political climate, the market tanking and all the other shit that’s going on, I’m just a teeny bit apprehensive about the inevitable future. All I can do is pray.

I understand your stand on winter. I’m from the Netherlands and it hardly gets cold in winter here. Nevertheless it’s the worst time of the year. The darkness, dampness and gloomyness of winter are a real pain in the butt once new year’s has past. Then it still takes MONTHS for the winter to give way to spring. My remedy: I go on an extended trip every winter (minimum of 6 weeks, more likely 7-8, next winter 14 weeks). Obviously I go somewhere sunny and/or warmer than Holland. I know I am a lucky bastard for being able to do that….
I love the fall, cool crisp days and great sleeping weather. And I barely tolerate the winters here in Chicago. Try to keep your spirits up.
